Understanding Deep Vein Thrombosis: Risk Factors, Signs, and Management

Recently I heard that a family member in her early 50s was being seen by a doctor for DVT and that she was hoping that there was a more natural way of dealing with it than the medications her doctor was prescribing. When I had digested this scrap of family ''information,'' I thought about my own lax position (denial, really) and how it would make sense for me to make some changes in my life while I still have some shreds of health and potential fitness. And, of course, I have inherited my mother's compulsive pop reading habit (in my case, the Internet mostly). So, I decided to research and write an article that would incorporate some preventative and alternative health principles into my life that might make DVT somewhat less likely to catch up with me than is likely the case now. I would also like to see our family member above and others benefit from these principles if they decide that they want to. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a critical health concern that af

Powerful Prayers for the Anxious and Depressed

We know that prayer is one of the most potent weapons against the spiritual battles of anxiety and depression. When darkness descends on the mind, fervent intercessory prayer to our Heavenly Father can part the clouds and let healing light pour through. Here are five effective ways to pray for adults suffering with anxiety and depression: 1. Pray for Physical and Emotional Healing   Both anxiety and depression manifest in physical ways - from gastrointestinal distress and headaches to fatigue and insomnia. Ask the Great Physician to bring complete healing. Pray for a renewed sense of God's shalom - His peace that transcends understanding to guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). 2. Pray against Spiritual Oppression Mental health issues can make one susceptible to spiritual attacks of condemnation, lies, and heaviness. Rebuke any evil forces seeking to perpetuate torment, false guilt, and isolation. Wield the sword of the Spirit - the Word of God - decreeing scrip

S*am Jobs To Avoid

When you, or your teen offspring, decide that the time has come to get a job, to make some cool cash, Rockin in the Free World  (or maybe that would be your grandparents?) -- a job offering a LOT of cash can win the day. Unfortunately, the ads for these jobs can be quite misleading, for the young people reading them, and for the parents hoping they will have a fun first job experience.  Before being tempted to go all out and apply for a big money job-- and the money is a big lure for any  of us, face it-- a little research is not a bad thing.  Here are some examples of "jobs" that are often actually scams to watch out for: Money Mule/Reshipping Jobs - Getting paid to receive and reship packages/money from others. This usually involves laundering money from theft/fraud. Social Media Promotion - Jobs asking you to artificially inflate social media metrics through fake accounts, bots, etc. This is considered spam. Free Product Testing - Having to pay for certification or purc
